Day 1 Arrive in Delhi Depart from the UK and arrive in Delhi the following day. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Hotel Park or similar. Rest of day is at leisure. Stay overnight.
Day 2
Delhi - Agra Morning, combined sightseeing tour of the famous historical sights in Old & New Delhi, visiting the Raj Ghat - memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Drive past the Red Fort (1639-48) built by the builder of The Taj Mahal - Shah Jehan; visit Jama Mosque - the largest mosque in India; visit the Qutab Minar (72 m high) - one of the most perfect towers of the Persian world. End the tour with a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House and President's Residence. Afternoon: drive from Agra to Delhi (203 kms/5 hours). On arrival check-in at the Trident or similar. Stay overnight.
Day 3 Agra Morning, visit the Agra Fort, whose maze of courtyard, mosque and private chambers reflect the grandeur of the Mughal Empire. Visit the tomb of Itmaud-ud-Daulah which bears mosaics in semi-precious stones. In the afternoon experience the Taj Mahal - one of the seven wonders of the world. This beautiful mausoleum in pure white marble, took 22 years and 22000 craftsmen to build. This monument was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved consort Mumtaz Mahal. Overnight at the Hotel Trident or similar.
Day 4 Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur In the morning, drive from Agra to Jaipur (240 kms/6 hours) enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri. This deserted, red sandstone city, built by Emperor Akbar, now glows in its magnificent past. Also visit the Bulund Darwaza (The Gate of Victory), set in the south wall. Continue your drive to Jaipur and upon arrival check-in at the Trident or similar.
Day 5 Jaipur Morning, excursion to Amber Fort. Enjoy the ascent on elephant-back up to the fort. Tour the chambers and hallways of the palace, which are famous for their excellence in design and decoration. Afternoon, tour of Jaipur, popularly known as "The Pink City of Rajasthan". Visit the unique Jantar Mantar Observatory, which was built in the 1700's and yet even today, looks futuristic or almost surrealistic. Visit the City Palace and its Museum, the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds. Overnight at the hotel Trident or similar.
Day 6 Jaipur - Udaipur Early morning flight to Udaipur and transfer to Hotel Trident or similar. A guided tour of the City Palace, the Jagdish Temple and the city. En route you see Lake Fatehsagar. Visit a local folk art museum.
Day 7 Udaipur Visit the temple of Eklingji. Later visit Nagda, one of Mewar's palaces. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel Trident or similar.
Day 8 Udaipur - Delhi (for flight home) or onward to Goa for a beach stay Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from hotel to airport for the morning flight to Go a via Bombay. Stopover in Bombay, approx. 2 hrs, change aircraft, and fly on to Goa (1 hr). Then transfer to your chosen beach hotel to continue your second week of stay.
